What we leave behind matters more than what we claim.

1 % of our revenue into climate action. Trees. Forest. Data.

Awareness. Commitment. Responsibility. We looked for a way to make our own contribution — and what came of it is more than a tick-box in an ESG report.

Why at all

IT may be the most complex industry when it comes to sustainability.

On one hand, digital solutions help every sector cut CO₂ — think of the business trips avoided through Digital Work. On the other, every byte of data traffic consumes energy and data centres with high-performance machines need substantial amounts of electricity. So there is plenty to do in our field too, to improve the CO₂ footprint.

The emissions PASSION4IT GmbH has offset through climate-action projects equal:

  • 1,300 long-haul flights
  • 2,941,176 cups of coffee
  • 3,000 m² of Arctic ice
  • 6,578,947 kilometres by car

A long road of small steps.

We live in the Bavarian Forest National Park; we grew up with and within nature. Protecting our environment and climate is therefore close to our hearts – in our daily work, and well beyond it. That is why, ever since we were founded, we have supported the “ 1% for the planet ” initiative, donating one percent of our revenue to environmental organisations. We are involved in reforesting mountain woodlands, cleaning up waterways and protecting bees, orangutans and whales. Through our efforts, 3,840 m² of rainforest in Canada and Peru have been preserved. In 2023, together with Planted, we planted 3,200 trees in a regional company forest near us.

These are of course only small steps – but if many take them together, they bring us closer to the goal: preserving our planet for the generations to come.

Tree-planting day in the Viechtach forest

5,000 trees for the future in the Viechtach forest

In October 2025, together with Planted, we planted 5,000 oaks and beeches in the Viechtach forest – joined by forester Thomas Kapfhammer, Johann Greil (Deputy Mayor of Viechtach) and Monika Häuslmeier (Tourism, Culture and City Marketing).

The day stood for what drives us: taking responsibility, acting locally and living sustainability as part of our company culture. What grew on that day was more than a planting action – it was a shared experience that shows how attitude becomes visible through what we do.

Niederbayern TV covered the planting on site. The piece aired on 29 November 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Journal programme and is available in the broadcaster’s media library.

This day shows how team culture grows beyond the workplace and how sustainability becomes part of our company culture.

Renaturation site at Mühlriegel near Arnbruck

5,000 m² of future – a renaturation rooted in values and AI

As a company, we carry responsibility – for our clients, our region and our planet. That is why we invest one percent of our annual revenue in environmental protection. In 2025, together with Planted and Hula Earth, we leased a forest plot on the Mühlriegel near Arnbruck. Over the next 20 years, a natural forest-development area will grow there.

What makes it especially innovative: AI-powered sensors let us track the development of animal species in our forest live and autonomously through a dashboard – a perfect interplay of technology and nature conservation.
